Applus+ IDIADA Completes Major Improvements to Proving Ground for Summer 2024

03/09/2024

Applus+ IDIADA has successfully implemented significant upgrades to its proving ground facilities during the summer of 2024. These improvements aim to enhance user safety, maintain optimal testing surfaces, and expand testing capabilities for customers.

    Wet Handling Circuit Resurfacing

The Wet Handling Track has undergone a significant resurfacing project aimed at maintaining the track's high standards and ensuring optimal testing conditions. IDIADA's Test Facility Design team, in collaboration with industry-leading partners, have carried out the complete resurfacing works. The project adhered strictly to quality targets and scheduled timelines. The facility will be fully operational from September 9th, 2024.

    ADAS and CAV Facility Expansion

IDIADA has expanded its ADAS and CAV testing capabilities by adding a new 900-metre lane in the north run-off area. This addition creates 6,000 m² of new testing surfaces specifically designed for advanced driver assistance systems and connected autonomous vehicles. The expansion allows for more comprehensive testing scenarios, meeting the evolving needs of customers in this rapidly advancing field.

    ISO2 Surface Upgrade

The ISO2 surface has been repaved to comply with the new ISO 10844 standard. This improvement enhances asphalt quality, meets stringent testing requirements, and ensures alignment with the latest industry standards. The upgrade allows customers to conduct tests using the most up-to-date international standards.
