Applus+ IDIADA has strengthened its vehicle safety testing portfolio by expanding its testing capabilities with the inauguration of a new Embankment Rollover testing facility at its Adelanto location, California, USA. The new installation features a comprehensive setup designed to conduct various rollover test configurations.
The facility includes a concrete surface with a high friction coefficient and reaches a total depth of 5 metres (16.4 ft). Its distinct design incorporates multiple slope configurations ranging from 30 to 65 degrees, each serving different testing purposes. The 30-degree slope extends for 50 metres (164 ft) and is designated for no-roll tests, while steeper angles of 40, 50, and 65 degrees are designed for different rollover testing scenarios.
The installation features carefully engineered transitions between slopes, including a 5-metre (16.4 ft) transition from 40 to 50 degrees and a 10-metre (32.8 ft) transition from 50 to 65 degrees. All approaching paths begin at 10 degrees and include an external propulsion system, allowing tests to be conducted with non-fully functioning vehicles.
This new facility enables Applus+ IDIADA to perform a complete range of rollover test cases, including ramp, curb, sand bed, and embankment rollover configurations, strengthening our position in vehicle safety testing services.
